History of The Dufresne Group

TDG was founded by Doug and Eva Dufresne with the opening of its fi rst store in 1986 in Kenora, Ontario. Twenty years later, we now operate store under two brands; Dufresne Furniture and Appliances and Ashley Furniture Home Stores.

TDG has established itself as one the largest independent regional furniture chains in Canada. We are the Largest Independent Dealer in Manitoba and North Western Ontario for such famous names as: Palliser, La-Z-Boy, Maytag, Serta, Sealy and Ashley.

In 2006, TDG achieved membership in one of the country’s most elite business designations; Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Platinum Club. Platinum Club members form an exclusive group of Canadian-owned and managed companies that consistently excel in every aspect of business. To become a Platinum member, companies must maintain their designation as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for a minimum of six consecutive years.
